Greek high glamour, at Athens Fashion Week, at the Technopolis Cultural center Athens, Sunday March 28th, 2010.
Lito Barre showed a very polished, cosmopolitan collection.Along with the fashion shows, there was art, music, dance, cinema. The Greeks don't believe in the separation of the arts like in postmodern western society. The classical humanities, or Renaissance Latin west, up until the mid 20th century was of this nature. Jean Cocteau was a poet, filmmaker, playwright, novelist, artist, he wrote several books, made movies, etc. He was the last of the true European Renaissance man. The old European nobility which didnt value money, in and of itself, and actually looked down on people who worked for a living, cultivated the arts. Luchino Visconti, the Italian filmmaker, was a duke, and made the most beautiful films ever made. He was not concerned with making a profit, he didnt make movies to make money, that is the wrong reason to do anything, its vulgar. Making money was considered a vulgar pursuit.
